We are often asked if His Chase is just another general sponsorship organization like so many others out there. The questions asked may vary, but the idea is still the same. People want to know what His Chase is comprised of and what the end goal really is.
"Will you continue to add more children to the program in Rwanda?"
"How do you select which children receive an education through His Chase?"
or some ask, "Do you know the students personally?"
As we ring in a New Year, and look forward to our sixth year of serving the His Chase students, we have an answer for you:
His Chase Foundation began for a very specific group of children--who lived their childhood at Noel Orphanage--in a very specific place--the beautiful hills of Rwanda--and is truly a very large and loving family. We know each and every student personally, and celebrate each one individually for who they are. We laugh together at the good times, we cry together at the bad times. We feast. We study. We dance. We dream. We acknowledge painful pasts, which many hold in common, but even more importantly, we look forward to their bright and exciting futures, which are as different and unique as our students are!
The end goal? To see each student who began this journey with His Chase in 2012---whether they were 10 or 22---to a healthy, productive place of giving back to their community, raising their families with security and confidence, relying on their faith in Jesus to sustain them, and their experiences and education to succeed. Whether it's vocational training or higher education, each His Chase student receives the opportunity to follow their educational path, and become what they dream of being.
The students of His Chase are not just sponsored kids who fill our quotas or names that fill our spreadsheets. They are the very breath of who we are as a ministry. They are the REASON we do this--the reason it ever started in the first place. And, as they graduate, go to university, get married, and have children, we are there beside them, watching them do GREAT things that were planned for them long ago.
These are the kids we've been given. And these are the kids we will finish strong beside.
Because of YOU, each year continues to hold more and more exciting celebrations. In 2017, we celebrated 13 primary school graduations, 9 highschool graduations, 20 university graduations, 3 weddings, 5 engagements, and countless baptisms.
And as we close this year, we look back as any large and loving family would do...with great thanksgiving for the way God forms families to be beautiful and diverse, each member a valuable part of the whole.
